Sony and Microsoft are preparing for their next major console launches, with reports suggesting a 2027 release window for both the PlayStation 6 and Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox, reportedly codenamed “Magnus.”
Tipster Kepler_L2, known for accurate hardware leaks, claims that Sony has finalized the core specifications for the PS6, targeting a late-2027 rollout that aligns closely with Microsoft’s schedule for its new Xbox.
Meanwhile, Moore’s Law Is Dead reports that Microsoft’s upcoming console will be powered by the AMD Magnus APU, featuring a processor with a die size about 46% larger than that of the PlayStation 6 chip. This design could make the Xbox Magnus faster and more powerful than Sony’s console.
Sony, however, appears focused on a different priority — affordability. Early leaks suggest the PlayStation 6 could launch at a lower price than its rival, aiming to retain its vast global gamer base while still introducing next-generation performance improvements.
Both companies are expected to share official details on design, specifications, and first-wave game titles as the rumored 2027 launch window approaches.
