PlayStation 5 owners looking for something new to play this weekend just got two fresh fantasy-themed options — and neither requires a PS Plus subscription.
Sony quietly added free demos for Rune Dice and Elementallis to the PlayStation Store, giving players a chance to test two magic-focused games that are already generating positive early reactions online.
Both titles lean heavily into fantasy gameplay, but they take very different approaches.
Rune Dice blends strategy, dice mechanics, and role-playing combat into a fast-paced system where players use enchanted dice to unleash attacks and abilities across battlefields.
The upcoming game, published by Kwalee, allows players to experiment with different character classes and combat styles. Depending on the build, players can spread poison effects, summon lightning attacks, or absorb damage as heavily armored fighters.
The game also focuses heavily on customization through combinations of runes, relics, and dice abilities.
Early demo reactions on both Steam and PlayStation have been encouraging, especially among players interested in roguelike mechanics and tactical combat systems.
Rune Dice is scheduled to officially launch later this month.
Meanwhile, Elementallis offers a more traditional action-adventure experience centered around elemental magic powers.
The game follows a world where elemental forces are collapsing, forcing players to restore balance while exploring temples, solving environmental puzzles, and battling enemies using different elemental abilities.
Unlike the more strategy-driven style of Rune Dice, Elementallis leans into exploration and real-time combat.
The game already launched on PlayStation earlier this year and has built a strong reputation among players on both PC and console platforms. Its PlayStation ratings have remained positive so far, with many players praising the atmosphere, visual design, and elemental combat system.
The demos are available now through the PS Store, and players can download them directly without needing an active PlayStation Plus membership.
The release of both demos also highlights a growing trend on PlayStation: smaller fantasy and indie-style games are increasingly finding strong audiences alongside major blockbuster releases
.For PS5 players waiting for larger upcoming exclusives, these free demos may offer an easy way to discover unexpected hidden gems before their full launches.
